Meeting at the St.David's church parking lot for carpooling and leaving at 8 to head to the Squamish area. Once there, drive to a crag around Squamish to learn about climbing, have lunch and climb until people get tired.

Required Items to Bring:
-Climbing shoes (can be rented from MEC) -Helmet -Lunch
Recommended Items to Bring:

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $35.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.25, effective Tuesday, March 26, 2019). This is based on the current provincial government rate for private vehicle use.  Please pay your share of the cost to the carpool driver.

This is a 1 day course intended to give people the basic knowledge to safely use a top rope with a partner. The goal is to provide a safe learning environment where people can learn the most basic elements of outdoor rock climbing.


- Putting on a harness
- Learning about materials used in rock climbing
- Tying in with, and checking a figure of 8 knot
- Belaying with an ACT device
- Communicating with climbing partners
- Basic climbing technique
- Rope coiling

- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in ACC VA events.
