Want some 1 on 1 downhill ski mentorship?

I'm looking for a handful of experienced backcountry travellers who want to improve their downhill skiing performance.

You’ll be paired with a member of the UBC Ski and Board club, many of whom are either level high level ski instructors or just impressively strong downhill skiers (that happen to compete in national level races).

You'll provide an introduction to the backcountry, and in exchange for your knowledge of touring, they’ll provide ample ski drills, tactics and encouragement while you practice your turns.

Applicants must:
  • Have a minimum of 2-3 years of backcountry experience and AST-1 (preference for a course(s) in glacier travel and/or alpine skills)
  • Possess strong touring skills (terrain management skills, knowledge of companion rescue, familiarity with local touring areas)
  • Have a need to improve their downhill skiing performance (beginner- intermediate downhill skiing ability)
  • Be willing to attend the kickoff meeting on November 19 from 6-9 pm
  • Be willing to spend a minimum of 4 days with their mentoring partner (2 days as a skiing mentee, 2 days as a touring mentor)
  • Have a Whistler pass, Edge Card or be willing to purchase 2 full -day lift tickets
  • Have a lot of stoke!!

Application instructions
