Memaloose is a partially treed summit to the northwest of the Manning Park ski hill. The approach we'll be taking starts and ends on a trail but in between we'll be doing easy (i.e. not dense trees) bushwacking and route-finding to the summit.

We'll park at the Allison Works yard at the pass (1340m elevation). The route starts out along a flat trail for about 5km, then we'll turn off the trail and rise steeply about another 2km, bushwacking (reportedly there is some flagging but we won't rely on that) and trail-breaking up to the ridge where its up and down to the 1945m summit, return the same way. Expect about 7 hours total hiking (plus 2 hours driving each way). Well be leaving downtown Vancouver at 8am and can do carpooling stops along the way (eg at skytrain stations).

I generally hike at the fast end of moderate, but prefer folks to stick together, so depending on the pace of the group, slower people may have to speed up a little and faster people may have to keep themselves in check.

The forecast is showing a mix of sun and cloud, and Im expecting the usual spring mix of crusty and sloppy wet snow. Please sign up only if you are 100% committed rain or shine. columbia/55122-memaloose-nara-peaks-manning- apr-05-15-a.html
