Itinerary:
3 day ski tour around North Joffre Creek with goal of skiing E face of Saxifrage Mt (40 deg slope) and Mt Oleg. Refer to John Baldwin's Exploring the Coast Mountains On Skis, page 122.

Day 1:

Park at pullout along north side of Duffey Lk road. Ski to col east of Saxifrage Mt. Descend to White Lakes to set up camp. Depending on time and group ski up Saxifrage via west ridge and descend E face. (Dist 8.9km, Vert Gained 1190m)

Day 2: If we did not ski Saxifrage on day 1. Skin up and ski Saxifrage back to White Lakes. Pack up camp and ski to Place Glacier via Oleg-Olds col. Set up camp and ski N or NE face of Mt. Oleg. (Dist 15km, Vert Gained 1777m)

Day 3: Pack up camp and ski back to car via Joffre Glacier and south shoulder of Cirque Pk. Down to NE fork of North Joffre Cr to logging road and out to parking spot. (Dist 9.4km, Vert Gained 400km)


Required Items to Bring:
Will setup Google Doc for gear organization.

Touring Gear: skis or splitboard, skins, beacon, probe, shovel, ski crampons, ice axe.

Glacier Travel: ropes (shared), harness, binners (locking, non-locking), sling, prusiks, belay device, ice screw

Camping Gear: Tent (possible to share), sleeping bag and pad, stove and fuel (possible to share), cookware (possible to share), head lamp

Food: 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners, daily snacks Personal Gear: repair kit for your touring setup, personal first aid kit (blisters, meds), extra batteries

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $85.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.25, effective Wednesday, September 19, 2018). This is based on the current provincial government rate for private vehicle use.  Please pay your share of the cost to the carpool driver.

Notes:
Prerequisites:

- Minimum AST1 training

- Strong ski/boarding and touring ability. Good fitness and ability to ski up to 40 deg slopes in backcountry condition (double black ski runs)

- Previous winter camping .

- Glacier travel training would be beneficial

I have not done this route before. This will be a trip of group decision making.
