How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take Highway 99 just north past Squamish, exit right at the BC Parks sign for Garibaldi Park Diamond Head. This is Mamquam Road, right before the Canadian Tire. It is about 16 km to reach the trailhead from Highway 99, mostly on a narrow, gravel road. The road will steepen and you will pass Quest University. You will eventually see another sign pointing you left, for Garibaldi Park Diamond Head. Depending on time of year and the conditions, you may need any combo of 4wd, snow tires and chains as the road isnít always plowed. The road is narrow, and itís not worth taking chances if your car is not winter-ready, as more than a few cars have fallen off this road before. The final curve before the parking lot is particularly sketchy (steep and often icy), and you may walk in the final few kilometers from an overflow parking/ turnaround area instead of navigating this final part of the road.
Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):150Km

** Vancouver Transit Info
Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $37.50 (calculated at total Km * $0.25, effective Sunday, October 13, 2019). This is based on the current provincial government rate for private vehicle use.  Please pay your share of the cost to the carpool driver.

I am going to try and take my Honda CR-V with snow tires - if the snow is deep I might rent a 4x4 if no one else has a suitable car. Let's discuss car options closer to the date when we know the road conditions and snow forecast. We will have a backup plan in case Mamquam Road is closed or in bad condition for access
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in ACC VA events.

Cost Includes:Total cost for one night at Elfin Lakes is actually $21.30 (including tax) because of the reservation fee ($6) and the Elfin Lake Hut fee ($5).
