Itinerary:

This is a very strenuous hike along not well-established trails from sea-level to the lake Lovelywater (1173m). We will depart at the classic St. David's United church carpool and head for Squamish, where I have arranged for a local boat operator named Paul to ferry us across the river to the Tantalus side. I had planned for the tyrolean approach but have found that the cable towers are now surrounded by a barbed wire fence. Paul has a key to the gate down the road to the cable crossing, and will allow us to park behind the gate for the weekend. That being said, if we could minimize the number of cars required to two it would be ideal.

Once we have crossed the river, we will follow the trail up to the lake, based off a GPS track I have. Once at the lake Saturday we can set up tents and make dinner. (I know, there's a hut, but camping is much nicer in this weather).

Sunday, we have the option of hanging around the lake, or if everyone's up for it we can feel out a scramble. I'll bring a scrambling book, but nothing requiring ropes, harness, ice axe or crampons will be attempted. A climbing helmet is recommended though.

Monday we can pack up camp for 8 and head down to meet Paul for the return river crossing for 12. This way, we can ideally still have some of Monday afternoon left by the time everyone arrives home.

If you'd like to share a tent/camp equipment, send me an email and I can direct you to a 'carpool' website I've set up where we can arrange what equipment we can share.
