|The objective is NE Arete route. This is a
classic and one of my favorites. This trip is
open to recent graduates of the Basic
Mountaineering course and anyone else with
basic mountaineering experience who would like
to take a step further. Please be advised that
this is a step up from Matier in terms of level
Itinerary: Leave Vancouver on
Saturday AM, hike a long slog and camp above
glacier in the afternoon. Alpine start/early
attempt on Sunday. Return to Camp, pack up,
out. Arrive back in Vancouver Sunday evening.
|Required Items to Bring:|
Mountaineering gear - shared: rope, pickets -
individual: Harness, Helmet, Biners (2 Locking
non locking), belay device/biner, pulley, Ice
axe(leashed), 2 double length (120m) sling,
cords 2 short and 2 long ones, Mountaineering
boots and crampons that fit those boots.
Camping gear - shared: tent/pot/stove -
individual: sleeping bag/pad.
Clothing: bring appropriate for all weather
conditions in an Alpine environment.
Food: 2 lunches, 1 breakfast, 1 dinner, snacks,

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $62.50 (calculated at total Km * $0.25, effective Thursday, September 20, 2018). This is based on the current provincial government rate for private vehicle use. Please pay your share of the cost to the carpool driver.
