Callaghan Valley Exploration

The plan is to leave Vancouver on Friday the 14th of April and come back on Sunday evening, 16th of April 2017.

This return date changed to Sunday, 16th of April, as most of the people don't have the day off.

As we will be using the groomed trails to acces the camp area, we need to purchase an online a ticket :$25.75+GST per person.

This trip is NOT beginner friendly due to long consecutive days of amazing skiing :)

There is about 12km long slog through mellow terrain , following a small creek up to Callaghan Lodge area, that would bring us to a nice meadow below Solitude Glacier where will have our base camp for the long weekend.

There is tons of terrain to explore within short distance from our campsite: will decide the exact objectives later on as we know more about the weather conditions and group preferences.

Here is a sample itineray subject to heavy changes due to weather conditions..etc:

  • Friday: ski in and make camp then ski some melow stuff in the afternoon:2h max
  • Saturday: Full day of exploration on the Wast side of the Valley, Solitude Glacier area or Journeyman area.
  • Sunday: Full day of exploration on the East side of the Valley, Hidden Peak area (Morning Glory) or even an attempt to get to Callaghan Peak then ski out

Please note that if your are into very steep lines and chutes, this might not be the trip you want to join as I am not keen to get into that kind of terrain.
