NORTH SHORE MOUNTAIN SEARCH AND RESCUE A PRESENTATION BY RON ROYSTON The mountains and canyons of the North Shore present a tremendous variety of outdoor recreation opportunities to Lower Mainland residents and visitors. These same attractions can become hazards to the unwary. When they do, North Shore Rescue Team members are often called to assist those in trouble. North Shore Rescue (NSR) is a Mountain Search and Rescue Team based in Vancouver, The team consists of approximately 40 volunteers skilled in search and rescue operations in mountain, canyon and urban settings. NSR performs approximately 90 search & rescue operations annually. Members participate in different support or rescue categories, depending on individual skills and participation levels. Ronís presentation will highlight the types of incidents, the terrain and equipment used by the team in accomplishing their mission. NSR is always looking for new members and heís on a scouting mission as well. To donate and learn more about North Shore Rescue visit their website at
