|Hike up to Mountain Lake Hut to climb the surrounding
mountains. Mount Sheer will likely be the first on the list as it's
extremely close to the hut, but other objectives include the Bens
(Vorlich, Avon, Lui, More and Lomond) and Red Mtn too.
The approach is roughly a 5 hour non technical day hike but
fairly strenuous in nature as we pick up elevation fast, it may
also require the use of an ice axe depending on weather.

|Required Items to Bring:|
Sleeping bag and overnight gear with lots of layers!
Ice axe, cooking gear and two days worth of food, (there is no
stove in the hut so that should be included in cooking gear too).
Harness/Prusik cords and two lockers should be in your kit also,
because you never know.

Helpful to bring a shovel in-case we need to dig out the entrance
way to the hut.
|How to Get There:|
|Event Directions:||Meet at Galileo's coffee shop on Hwy 99 at 9:00, and drive down
the Furry Creek logging road together.
The logging road needs a 4WD/AWD vehicle because it isn't in
the greatest of conditions. Your forced to walk an extra 6-9km
in otherwise and it's long, boring and only has the result of mass
logging to look at. Gina has space for 6 people in her van, but if
somebody else with an appropriate vehicle takes part we can
increase the group size slightly.|

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $13.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.25, effective Wednesday, July 17, 2019). This is based on the current provincial government rate for private vehicle use. Please pay your share of the cost to the carpool driver.
