Itinerary:
We are planning a Classic Traverse of the Wapta Ice Field in April 2013. It will guided by Tom Wolfe, whom we have skied with in the past (http://www.sawback.com/) and he will arrange food and huts and will guide us along the traverse. We will spend two nights in some of the huts and plan on doing some day tours and possibly climbing a peak along the way. Looks like we can do a Wapta April 7-12 as follows: April 6 - Drive to the Rockies (location TBD); evening team meeting, gear organization April 7 - Skiing; Overnight at Peyto Hut April 8 - Skiing; Overnight at Bow Hut April 9 - Skiing; Overnight at Balfour Hut April 10 & 11 - Skiing; Overnight at Scott Duncan Hut, possible summit attempt of Mt Balfour. April 12 - Ski out to cars, overnight at hotel/hostel (location TBD) April 13 - Drive home We will look into staying at the ACC clubhouse in Canmore or Lake Louise both before and after the trip. You will be responsible for booking this and paying for it yourself. Info from Tom, some details still to be determined and will be based on a group consensus: "the extra day at Scott Duncan gives us a good chance at climbing Mt. Balfour!"
