Lady & Cheam Peaks are a great hike on a clear late summer day when the 4wd road to the high elevation parking area is clear of snow and the meadow flowers are in full bloom. You can get to the top of Lady in less that 2 1/2 hours and most parties can summit both in an easy days hike on well established trails. We left Boundary Road at 6 am. Met others at Chilliwack by 7 am. As per instructions turn Left onto Foley Creek FSR and after 4 k right onto Chipmunk Creek FSR. Road in good shape but deep water bars make it advisable to use 4wd. For vehciles with adequate clearance it is relatively easy driving to the trailhead (approx 16k after leaving pavement). Had a fine hike up Lady Peak, trail conditions good with some snow patches which made for some interesting glissades on the way down. 2 1/2 hours to Lady from the cars. Ice axes a good idea if you see steep snow patches from the car parking lot. Helmets a good idea for class 2 scramble near the top. Ropes not so much. Lunch & a drink near the summit. Then down & quick trip over to Cheam via a crossover trail part way down Lady. An easy hike up Cheam, with lots of other folks, along easy switch back trails on a beautiful sunny day. Boot skiing on the few snow patches left on the Cheam slopes made for a quick and easy descent. Back at the cars and well on the way home before 4:30. But not before stopping in the Sardis DQ for a big chocklit shake with whipping cream & a cherry. Participants, Bill Sims, Patrick Lloyd, James Frystack, Andrei Pipas, Alex Taylor, Julio Valenda, Ben Vanderlei, Rob Brusse & Logan.
