Trip Stats: We headed up Whistler Mountain from Whistler Village using their backcountry pass, which costs $45 including tax for one ride up the hill. After getting off the gondola we travelled down to the bottom of the Harmony Chair, which we rode into the alpine. From the top we skied over to the entrance to the Flute Basin and put our skins on. We skied up the cat track to the top of Flute and skied through the Provincial Park boundary marking the entrance to Garibaldi Provincial Park. We continued to tour over the Musical Bumps past Oboe and down the east side to Singing Pass. We skied some secret glades in Singing Pass and traversed back the way we came and skied down the ski hill. It was great to ski down the hill after the mountain had closed as we had it all to ourselves! Total human-powered ascent was probably in the 3,500 - 4,000 ft range with total descent around 10,000 ft because we got to ski all the way to valley bottom on the ski run. Distance travelled around 10 km +/- 1 km. Trip duration was around 7 hours from the moment we got on the lifts.
